U16 Girls Win National Championship!
CONGRATULATIONS to Coach Mike Lord’s U16 Girls NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
The team traveled to Commerce City, Colorado to compete in the 2021 National Cup XX Finals, where they had 3 shut-out games coming into Tuesday’s Final Game vs Arkansas Comets! In regular time, Bree Ehmer scored a header off a corner from Nina Lopez. The girls kept the 1-0 lead with midfield working hard to control the game and the defense keeping their stronghold line. Arkansas Comets squeezed a late goal in the 2nd half to equalize it, bringing it to overtime.
The girls stayed level in double-overtime which led to a penalty kick shootout. Stephanie Burke was in keeper position for the shots and blocked the first! Piper Miller, Mackenzie Plemmons, Bree Ehmer, and Taylor George each made their PK shots and with Stephanie blocking ANOTHER, the girls brought home the WIN at 4-2!
Led by Coach Mike Lord, these girls played hard all four games, came in with a goal in mind, and achieved it!!
