Club Update, Mar 19

March 19, 2020

Dear Space Coast United Members,

In recent days, numerous public health agencies – including the CDC, NIH and WHO – have issued strong advice to avoid person-to-person contact to the greatest extent possible. Gatherings of 10 or more people are now being discouraged.

Accordingly, Space Coast United Soccer Club is following Brevard County Schools and joining US Club Soccer with other youth members of the U.S. Soccer Federation (AYSO, SAY and USSSA) in immediately suspending all activities within our jurisdiction through April 12.

To be clear: this includes not only activities directly operated by Space Coast United, but also all Soccer-sanctioned and related activities operated by member organizations, such as league and tournament play, scrimmages, practices/training, tryouts, team travel, large group meetings, and related off-field activities.

The Space Coast United Board and Executive Director of Soccer are continually monitoring the situation and will rely on expert public health advice for when it is safe to resume soccer activities. There will be a subsequent Member Update before April 12 addressing the possibility of returning to play or extending this cessation.

In the meantime, please frequent spacecoastsoccer.org for more updates.

Additionally, Space Coast United Soccer directors are to develop and distribute resources for players and coaches to continue to improve on their own through virtual skills contests on a variety of topics and more.

Please continue to take every precaution, and make decisions with public health in mind, as we aim to flatten the curve of this pandemic. Thank you for your attentiveness to this matter.
