Viera Regional Park Field Improvement Project
Space Coast United has been working diligently with county personnel for a long time seeking opportunities for improving and optimizing field utilization. This is one reason why we were able to expand our Recreation Partner Agreement to include the Rockledge field locations this year.
Recently, the Brevard County Tourist Development Council gained commission approval to allocate some of their funds towards the development of five tourism-oriented projects throughout the county. One of the targeted TDC-funded projects involves upgrading the sports fields at Viera Regional Park to include turf playing surfaces and lights for all fields. Florida today published a story on October 11 regarding the county commission vote. The purpose of this project is to serve the needs of both county residents and the tourist industry.
We can assure you that Space Coast United will not lose any field utilization in terms of scheduled time and space from what we currently are allotted. We will continue to provide soccer programming for this community as we have since Viera Regional Park opened. This project will expand our ability to provide equal access to playing opportunities by helping sustain field quality and maximizing the number of individuals who can actively utilize the fields.
We undersand this project will generate a lot of questions, many of which we do not have answers to quite yet. We do have a seat at the table for the many discussions necessary before this project commences and will communicate details as they are finalized. As soon as we have more detailed information to pass along we will do so.
