SCU Members Earn Florida Youth Soccer Annual Awards
Space Coast United Soccer Club is proud to announce that two of its pillars, Rob Pedrick and Tom Szuba, have been recognized with major awards at the recent Annual General Meeting of the Florida Youth Soccer Association in Orlando.
Rob Pedrick has won the FYSA Pioneer Award, awarded to volunteer members who distinguished themselves by starting youth soccer programs in areas of the state where there were none. He has been with the club since the early 1980’s, when it was then known as the former Eau Gallie Soccer Club and later the Sherwood Soccer Club. He has served as club director, coach, referee, has lined fields, and worn every hat that one could think of. Over the years he has been instrumental in the growth of Space Coast United from a small struggling club to the successful, diversified club we all enjoy today.
Rob jokes that “when you get a Pioneer Award I think it means you're getting old!” And he adds that he is both “touched” and “honored” to get this award.

Space Coast United President Tom Szuba has been awarded the Boar’s Head Volunteer of the Year award. This award recognizes those who give an extraordinary amount of time and effort to promote soccer and to give FYSA players and coaches the opportunity to participate. He has been with the club for fourteen years as a coach, and fund raiser.
Tom wants to share credit for this award with the Board members because he says,”they do the work, I just get the credit!” He also went on to say “It is so satisfying to see we have a club that has something for everyone: TOPS, Regional and State Cup competitive soccer, recreation and YDP. In addition, it is wonderful to see our teams at Viera, Wickham and all over the state representing our club with pride. So many times I have been told by others outside Space Coast what great sportsmanship our parents and players display. It is also great to realize how few problems we have with so many members.”
