Tropical Storm Fay Update
The fields at Viera Regional Park have dried sufficiently to allow play starting Monday August 25. Fields 8-11 are partially open: the penalty areas remain too wet for play. Please read and heed all signs and notices posted at the fields, and please stay away from any wet areas. YDP sessions will proceed as scheduled at Viera tonight.
Fields at Wickham park are also ready for play starting today (Wednesday). YDP training will take place as scheduled tonight at Wickham.
Our remaining fields (Spyglass, and Johnson) remain too wet for play.

SCU Members Earn Florida Youth Soccer Annual Awards

SCUSC Boys Player Accepted to New York Red Bull Academy
Former SCU member Eduardo Cornejo has been accepted to the MLS New York Red Bull U15 Academy. Ed played in the past seasons with our U14 State Team coached by Homer Bozorg, Tim Herbener, and Bill Heiselman. Ed’s family Eduardo Sr., Miriam, and his sister Melina had moved to New York in March 2008. Ed made a great sacrifice to stay behind in Florida to help his team through the State Cup rounds.
Once he rejoined his family, he began to look for club in the New York area. Following his dream to one day turn pro, his parents contacted NY Red Bull to see if there were any opportunities for their son to try out. The club scheduled a tryout and, after a few tense days waiting for a result, the family received a phone call informing them that Ed had earned a spot on their U15 Academy team.
Ed practices with his new team at the Giants Stadium and wears the Red Bull uniform. One of the many benefits he enjoys is free admission to any Red Bull game he chooses to attend.
Congratulations to Ed for his determination to follow his dreams and best wishes for his future success with his new club.
SCUSC Hosts FYSA Coaching Courses
Space Coast United Soccer Club is pleased to host 4 FYSA courses later this month at the Viera Regional Park soccer fields. The course offerings are:
- FYSA U6/U8 Youth Module offered Saturday August 16. Application (pdf)

- FYSA E License Course

Space Coast United Fall Soccer Registration Closed
SCU fall soccer registration is now closed. This includes the recreational program (U12 and up), the new Youth Development Program (YDP), and Minikickers. The Fall 2008 Information Sheet can be found here (pdf).
Registration for the spring season generally takes place in January. Please check this space for more specific dates and times later this year.

Space Coast United 2008-2009 Competitive Team Tryouts
Space Coast United Soccer Club conducted tryouts for our competitive teams at Viera Regional Park in early June. Some teams may still have available roster spots; those interested in our competitive teams should contact the appropriate team coaches for additional tryout information. Those teams listed below still have roster spots available:
U16 Coed Premier: Roster spots, including goalkeepers, are available. Contact Geovanni Palacio for more information.
U15 Coed Elite: Roster spots are still available for this team – looking for highly competitive, experienced, and committed players for a State Cup team that ranked in the top ten in Florida in 2007-2008. Please contact Homer Bozorg or Tim Herbener for a tryout.
U13 Girls:Roster spots are available on both the Elite and Premier teams for the right players. Interested players looking to join a program dedicated to long term success should contact Matt Barber to schedule a tryout.
U13 Coed: Roster spots are available; please contact Jerry McCabe.
U12 Coed: Roster spots are available; please contact Hank Baron.
U11 Coed: Roster spots are available; please contact Tim Prange or Kathy Hardy.
SCU Girls Placed on National and Region III ODP Teams
At the recent Region III Olympic Development Program (ODP) training sessions, the following SCU Storm players were selected to the Region III ODP squads:

Additionally, Rachel Price for earned a place at the ODP National Camp! Congratulations to all of these players.
